Conundrum

‘’Conundrum is an interdisciplinary solo dance-performance that explores the manifestations of friction, confrontation, and the obstacles of thought. Performing this physical work herself, Haveman challenges the viewer’s sensory and emotional aspects. With the use of object manipulation, a sound installation and cinematic imagery, she experiments with the notion of identity as an idealism.''

Her work is inspired by questioning human behavior and philosophies, from the vulnerable to the invincible, all under the umbrella of the (un)conscious self. In Conundrum, we see an entangled being with a three-meter-long metal chain as a metaphor for conditioned beliefs. Which ideas are imposed by nurture, culture, and environment, and how does she distinguish them from her natural thoughts? Combining physical theater, dance and text, she demonstrates how identity can give shape in abstraction while seeking a genuine connection with the audience.
